The Perfect Baby?

Well, at least for now she’s the perfect baby. It has been a week since we put Kennedy in her bed to cry herself to sleep. Since last Tuesday she has only gotten better and better at sleeping. And she has been a much happier and easier baby. Dare I say, the perfect baby!? She seems much more content, probably because she’s well rested. She rarely cries except when she’s hungry or tired. But even then, we usually get her to bed before she’s really tired. And usually she goes to sleep pretty quickly. Dan and I were just talking last night about when we first let Kennedy cry herself to sleep. Dan thought it had been two weeks ago already. But I had to remind him that it has only been a week. But it seems like an eternity! This past week has been totally wonderful. We feel like we have a normal life back. It’s hard to believe that we have a 2 month old infant in the house because we are able to be alone in the evenings with all 4 of our kids in bed. No more walking the floors all night long, nursing and changing diapers till 2 am. When Kennedy gets tired, I just swaddle her up and put her to bed. She’s usually asleep on her own within 5-10 minutes. It has been such a blessing. I don’t even feel like we have a baby in the house! She is also developing her own little schedule. She wakes up, nurses and then is awake for a little while. She is usually awake between 1-2 hours tops before she is ready to go back to sleep. Her naps vary in length. We can always be sure that if she has been awake an hour or two and she starts to yawn or get fussy, we know she’s tired and should put her to bed. No problems. She naps several times a day. And she usually gets up once in the night to nurse. If every baby could be this easy, I’d have lots more kids!
