Pix It Mommy!

Tonight we took our TV, VCR, DVD player and various accessories down to the basement. We plan on canceling our cable tomorrow. WHAT KIND OF CRAZY THING ARE THE MILLERS DOING?? Before you think we’ve gone off our rocker, this is something that Dan and I have talked about doing for years now. We’ve always thought it was a good idea but never could quite commit to it. It was brought up again this afternoon and we decided that we should stop waffling about it and just get rid of the TV. This idea will not only be great for our kids (Just don’t ask them their opinions!) but it will be good for the adults too. There’s lots of stuff Dan and I could be doing with our evenings besides watching TV. We have a kitchen remodel project that needs to be finished, we need to organize our basement and various other house projects that we always put off. The past few night we’ve been listening to Harry Potter book 5 on CD and that’s been really fun. Mostly we just really want our kids to learn to do other things instead of watching TV or asking to watch TV all day. I’m sure there will be some major withdrawal felt by all. There will probably be crying and tantrums. But we’ll get over it. It already feels more peaceful in our living room with the big black box gone. I hope this goes well. I really can’t say anything about it now because the TV has been gone from the living room for about 15 minutes. We waited until the kids went to bed to move it down stairs.
