Happy Birthday Scott March 21, 2008
Yesterday was Scott’s 6th birthday. He has been really excited about his birthday for weeks now. But who wouldn’t be excited about a special day all for themselves that also involves cake and presents!?
Scott has been asking me to make a Diego birthday cake for him. In case you have no clue who I’m talking about, let me explain. Do you know who Dora the Explorer is? Well Diego is Dora’s cousin. He used to appear occasionally on the Dora show. But I guess Diego was such a cool character that he got his own spin off show called Go, Diego Go. Anyway, we don’t watch either of those shows any more because we don’t have cable. Nevertheless…I made a Diego cake. This was my first attempt at making a character cake. I’ve made plenty a beautiful and tasty layer cake. But never a cut out character cake. It wasn’t too hard. And boy was I excited by the results! I was so pleased with myself. Of course I’ve got pictures of this cake baby!

Diego looks great! I’m in the middle of making a Superman cake for Jared’s 4th birthday. Diego would have been easier I think….
