What? I still haven't played? You have to have more of my ramblings?
Well that last page got a little big, so I had to cut it off. I got a
chance to look at the save. After far too long of a time, I finally
figured out how to view the logger. I *knew* I had seen it somewhere
but I could not find it anywhere. Eventually I found the icon up in the
top left (or you can hit Ctrl-Tab).
It looks like there's only been one Great Person born so far - Merit Ptah born in 75 AD. She appears to have been a physician (and the first woman known by name in the history of science). I'm going to guess Great Prophet. But let's see what we can figure out. She was born in 75 AD. Stonehenge was built in 550 BC. At 25 years per turn, that's 25 turns. Stonehenge makes 2 GPP/T so that's 50. Your first Great Person comes in at 100 GPP. Something's not adding up. Maybe they were in Pacifism? But that requires Philosophy, which nobody has (Since Taoism has not been formed). Then I figured they must have been Philosophical! But Stonehenge was built by the Aztecs who are Spi/Agg. Dang I thought for sure that was it. In any case, I'm guessing I'm just missing something and that she was not a Great Artist. Doing some googling sees that in another game she was born in 840 BC, which I think is too early for Music.
Pre-flight check: I have 8 workers. More than I thought but I could still use a few more. Most of them are doing dumb things. Well, not dumb, but they could do more important things. The enemy of the best is the good and all that. I tend to do that when I go on autopilot, which happens when I play for a long period of time. Rome - it has 1 unhappy citizen from war weariness? How can that be? I wonder if it has to do with Thermo being still in resistance? Slow it to grow in 3 instead of 1 since it's at its happiness limit and switch it to a Aqueduct. Antium - also has 1 unhappy citizen. I swap from settler to worker, due in 6. Cumae - leave it at worker, but after that I want to let it grow. Sparta - ibid. Magyar - leave it at a workboat, since the fastest way for it to grow is to work those fish. It already has a theater so it will expand in 3 turns. Neapolis - Lighthouse in 1 but I really wish I"d have built a library or theater here. Athens - for some reason building a worker is causing it to starve. Not sure about that. I click to something else and back to worker and it resolves itself... Pisae - workboat in 2. But it doesn't have any culture. I swap a 1F1H tile for a 0F3H tile, since I'm not waiting 23 turns for it to grow to size 3. This makes the workboat in 1, and I queue up a Theater. Corinth - I'm going to need a forest chop to speed up its theater. Thermo - rioting. 125 - Okay the war weariness is gone. Don't know what that was all about... Lots of forest chops and borders expanding. 175 - Xi Ling Shi born. Looks like she is a great scientist. Magyar's borders expand and I get the fish. 200 - Taoism founded in a distant land :-(. I guess the good thing is that I really had no chance at it. 250 - The barb city Mauryan is up to size 2. I have a few units in the area so I take it out. That, of course, does wonders for my unit costs as I'm now -15 gpt. 325 - Music comes in and well, I think this says it all:
He can help me discover Polytheism. Ooh wow a whole 100 beakers :-/. Start on Currency. 350 - Cumae Lighthouse ->Great Lighthouse. Sparta Theater->Settler. 400 - I realize Rome has Avoid Growth turned on. Grrrr 500 - Currency ->Code of Laws. 600 - Code of Laws comes in->Compass. I have to turn science down to 50%. Start up some courts. 700 - Great Lighthouse built in Cumae. I'm not understanding how these trade routes are working. I'd think that with +2 trade routes in all coastal cities, I'd see a boost in my economy. Instead, it's still in the doldrums. Ravenna formed and hey it only took me down 1 gpt. 720 - Christianity founded. I'm getting worried about being left behind. 780 - Compass->Metal Casting 800 - Okay time to stop. My economy is starting to get better. After having to dip down to 40%, I can now run 60% science at +5/turn. I've got 4 courthouses, with 3 in production. That means in 6 turns (when the 6th one finishes) I can start on the Forbidden Palace. Globe Theater in Athens in 9 turns. After it's built, I should revolt to Caste System, because I think Athens can run a ton of specialists. Hanging Gardens in Rome in 12, though with some tile rearrangements I get it down to 5. Hopefully that weed won't make me lose out on the Gahdens. I have a couple of cities working on military. |
