Okay - after a bit off of Civ, I've decided to get back in the saddle, so
to speak.
Adventure Eight - The French Revolution Sponsor: Sirian Opening Date: Monday, May 22 Duration: Five Weeks Game Speed: Normal Difficulty: Noble Civilization: France Leader: Louis XIV Map Size: Large Map Script: Inland Sea Rules: No City Razing Victory: Conquest, Domination or Time Variant Rule: No abuse of Anarchy to postpone crossing the Domination threshold. Scenario: Your goal is to dominate or conquer the planet. Go out and knock some heads. Scoring: One point per rival civilization eliminated from the game (by any means). Warmongering is probably my worst trait, so this will be a good chance to get some under my belt.
I'm Louis XIV, Cre/Ind. So that means fast wonders / forges, and free border pops. I start with Agriculture and the Wheel, so a worker first strategy might be wise, with the corn right there. I don't have any idea what patch 1.61 will do. I downloaded it this morning but haven't looked at it at all. I've got lots of food with the corn and flood plains, and the stone will make wonders handy. Perhaps the Pyramids for a Representation gambit? 4000 BC - Paris is settled in place; the hut gives 44 gold. I decide to start out with worker and Mining, to lead towards Masonry. 3880 BC - I'm on an inland sea, and it looks like I'm at the top. 3800 BC -
Mansa's to the west. I love Mansa for all the trading goodness. We'll have to see who else is near me for some whuppin. 3720 - Mining->Masonry. 3440 - Buddhism FIADL. Worker->Warrior. The worker farms then roads the corn. 3360 - Masonry->BW. Still exploring, but haven't met anyone on the south / east side of me. 3120 -
Ooh a much better foe. I really find him to be very annoying. His scout was off to the east. It seems like I'm on the top middle of the inland sea. My warrior (and Mansa's) are scouting around the shore to the E/S 3050 - Warrior completes and now that I have a sentry for Paris, I start on a barracks. 2980 -
Alex on the other side of Sally. I pop the northern hut and get 56 gold. 2840 - Bronze Working comes in and I have copper just near Paris. The worker goes to hook it up. I start on Pottery. 2720 - More exploring clockwise around the sea and...
Another person I don't like! 2600 - Hinduism FIADL, and Barracks->Pyramids. I'll swap off of that once the Copper is created to build a few axes. 2480 - Pottery->Mysticism for an Oracle run. Copper is hooked up so I switch to an axe. 2280 - Axe->Axe. I upgrade my warrior to an axe for 80 gold.
2240 - Mysticism->Polytheism. I meet Otto
Met Cathy too but didn't feel like taking a picture. She's the Hindu. 1840 - Poly->Priesthood. Really got a late start on the Oracle, but I'm hoping with being Industrious and a few forest chops should net me Metal Casting. I've put a turn in here and there into the Pyramids too so I think I stand a decent chance with that too. |
