Sweet Teriyaki sauce of goodness

So there’s an ongoing deal which is super hot. Kikkoman Teriyaki sauce, 10 oz or greater. Regular price $1.49. There are .55/1 coupons out. I’ve seen some as peelies (stuck to the bottles) and then they’re available off of eBay. Since both Kroger and Meijer double .55 coupons here up to $1, that makes the sauce 49 cents a bottle. Not that great, right?

Wrong! If you buy 2, it costs you 98 cents. But for every 2 that you buy, you get a coupon for $3 off your next order. So essentially, you make a dollar ($1.01) for each soy sauce. When I saw this deal on Memorial Day, I immediately ordered about 300 coupons off of eBay. I probably paid about $10 total for the coupons, but each coupon is worth $1! The first 2 sets came in the mail Thursday, but I’m still waiting on a big batch to come from California. Tragically our mail comes late in the day. But the good news is that I called in and the deal should be lasting till 6/25. So plenty of time to get more soy sauce. And clean lots of Paris gowns with it, IYKWIM.

Here’s a little picture of the trunk of the car after a day full of soy sauce gathering. The other bags are full of CVS diapers. Which is another good deal that I’ll explain, even though nobody will care. Last year CVS used to have Buy 1 Get 1 Free packages of diapers. This was a pretty good deal, especially since for every 5 that you bought, you got a coupon for a free one. So you could work it so that you could get 12 packages for the price of 4. I have about 6 rainchecks left over from the last time they did that deal, which was last October (CVS rainchecks never expire). I haven’t bought diapers since then (at the apex we probably had 70 packages downstairs). But alas, J has umm peed ? through the stack 🙂 and with little Giovanna on the way it’s time to start stocking up on the small sizes. So I had a raincheck for 6 at B1G1F. I chose to interpret that as Buy 6 get 6 free (rather than buy 3 get 3 free for a total of 6) :-). So I got 6 for free and paid for 6. But wait! Because CVS this week has diapers on sale for buy 1 get 1 50% off, at the end of my transaction, it took the 6 I paid for and gave 3 of them to me for half-off. I ended up with 20 packages of diapers (in 2 different trips) for $63.

There’s more teriyaki under those piles of diapers. All in all, since Monday, I have “bought” 118 bottles of teriyaki. Good times!!! I don’t think this will make it to be the best deal ever, but if it really does last till the 25th, it might give the good ol Kroger / Kellogg’s deal of Sep 2004 a run for its money!
