Hales (from Idaho!) &#8211; <a href=\"http:\/\/www.lds.org\/conference\/talk\/display\/0,5232,23-1-947-22,00.html\">Christian Courage: The Price of Discipleship<\/a><\/p>\n<p>One of the things I liked about this talk was his talking about the perils in leaving &#8220;the high ground&#8221;.  A lot of his talk focused on how to react when people attack you or the Church or your beliefs.  One of his suggestions was<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>As the Savior demonstrated with Herod, sometimes true disciples must show Christian courage by saying nothing at all.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>He compared it to <a href=\"http:\/\/scriptures.lds.org\/en\/alma\/47\">Alma 47<\/a> and <a href=\"http:\/\/scriptures.lds.org\/en\/neh\/6\/2-3#2\">Nehemiah 6:2-3<\/a>, where both times enemies tempt someone into leaving the high ground and meeting &#8220;in the valley&#8221;.  In Alma, Lehonti is then killed by Amalickiah, whereas the prophet Nehemiah refuses, saying <\/p>\n<blockquote><p>\u00e2\u20ac\u0153I am doing a great work, so that I cannot come down: why should the work cease, whilst I leave it, and come down to you?\u00e2\u20ac\u009d<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>Anyways, just thought that it was interesting<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>So in my continuing series of reading GC talks, I read one from Robert D.
